WHERE IS THE CHURCH?

When the world is asking, “Where is the church?” what will you say, and where will you stand? It is not the first time this question has arisen. In moments of crisis, calamity, political instability, and even in seasons of deep personal despair, the cry of humanity has always turned to the same question: Where is the church? This yearning is not just about the presence of buildings or gatherings, but about the heartbeat of God expressed through His people. The world is desperate to see whether the church will hide in the shadows of fear and compromise or rise in the boldness of truth and love.

During the Forerunners’ service, Pastor Flavia Murugi reminded us that Jesus Himself is the Master Builder. From Ephesians 2:20, she showed us that Christ is the cornerstone upon which everything stands. When He says, “I will build my church,” it is not a suggestion; it is a promise. He is building a people who cannot be shaken, a house that cannot be destroyed, and an army that cannot be defeated. The gates of hell may resist, but they cannot prevail. Gates are meant to lock people in bondage, but Christ calls His church to storm those gates through prayer, evangelism, discipleship, and service. We are not a timid people; we are an advancing army, carrying His authority into the world.

Yet Pastor Flavia also reminded us that this victory is not careless or chaotic. Spiritual warfare demands order. Soldiers must be accountable to their commanders; believers must be submitted to Christ and rooted in His word. To stand on any other foundation is to be unstable, but to stand on Christ is to be unshakable. What He builds belongs to Him, and nothing, no trial, no enemy, no calamity, can undo it.

As the day unfolded into the family service, Pastor Donald Gichane carried this truth even deeper. If Christ is the Master Builder, then who are we in His construction? From 1 Peter 2:5, he reminded us that we are living stones, chosen, shaped, and carefully placed by God into His spiritual house. No stone stands alone. Each of us has a place, a purpose, and a divine alignment with Christ, the cornerstone. Just as Solomon’s temple was built with precision, so too are our lives being molded with intentionality.

Pastor Donald pressed home that being a living stone is not about seeking visibility or recognition, but about obedience and sacrifice. True service to God is birthed in the hidden places, when we worship, when we pray, when we serve faithfully, even when no one is watching. Like David, who was called while tending his father’s sheep, God sees us long before the world does. Favor is not for fame, but for service. He reminded us that the church is not something we merely attend, but something we are, contributors, not consumers. Every act of faith, every word of encouragement, every offering of service is a spiritual sacrifice rising to God.

Together, these two messages wove one clear and compelling call: Christ is building a victorious church, but He is building it with us. He is the unshakable foundation, and we are the stones He has chosen and set in place. The gates of hell cannot prevail, but the church must be willing to advance, to sacrifice, and to serve.

So when the world asks again, “Where is the church?” may the answer be found in us. May they see a people who are not hiding in fear but standing in faith. May they find us storming the gates, lifting the broken, feeding the hungry, and living as a testimony of Christ’s love. May they look at us and see the reflection of Jesus, present, unshaken, unstoppable. For the church that Christ is building will not be silenced, and the living stones He has chosen cannot be broken.
