Life has a way of wearing us down, unanswered prayers, quiet disappointments, and seasons that seem to stretch longer than expected. But this past Sunday, God met us in that very place. Through the powerful voices of Pastor Kevin Owino from Ruach rivers assembly and our lead pastor, Pastor Donald Gichane, we were reminded that the Kingdom of God doesn’t advance through comfort or convenience, it moves through sons and daughters who are fully seated, fully surrendered, and fully engaged. Pastor Donald stirred our hearts with the truth that persistence is the posture of the Kingdom, that even when we don’t see results, we’re called to press in, to pray again, and to not give up.
Pastor Kevin reminded us that the Kingdom of God advances through people, not through mere movement, but through the rule of God finding expression in men and women. Kingdom means rule or reign; it describes how the influence of a King is propagated. We cannot separate the Kingdom from the King, God’s rule is advanced through sons who have also been made kings and priests (2 Peter 1:10). We are not waiting for validation to function in our divine assignment; we are the confirmation of what God has spoken over us.
The calling and election we’ve received must be made sure. Where you are in life is not the ultimate evidence of God’s favor or plan, you’re not less called because of your experiences. Your position is already established in Christ. Maturity in the Kingdom is not about abandoning the fundamentals (milk), but about growing through them to develop strong spiritual bones. The growth process is necessary, and through it comes testimony and victory.
The Kingdom operates through the saints, and Pastor Kevin unpacked four dimensions of God’s rule granted to us:
- Personal Rule – Scriptures were written for our benefit, so we wouldn’t walk in darkness.
- Household Rule – Like Joshua declared, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” There is authority given to you for your family, and when exercised accurately, it can accomplish more than individual efforts.
- Corporate Rule – There is authority in the Church structure. Binding and loosing (Matthew 18:15) are not casual matters. Agreements must be detailed and Spirit-led.
- Ministerial Rule – This dimension speaks to those called to minister the Word and lead God’s people with integrity and power.
All these expressions of authority are not for self-promotion but to demonstrate the value of the Kingdom of God on earth. The level of authority you walk in is directly tied to your faith. You’ve been given authority over your life, what happens to you isn’t up to Satan or even solely to God; it’s a trust God has placed in your hands.
Pastor Kevin also warned against interpreting God’s favor based on life’s highs and lows. We are accepted, justified, and destined for glory. We must not seek people’s opinions on our calling, it’s dangerous to operate without clarity of purpose. The inspiration you receive from prophecy must align with the surer word of Scripture (2 Peter 1:19-20). If you’re in a dark place, the light you seek is in God’s Word. Submit your spirit to the Word, there is no guarantee of light without it.
Then came the powerful second service with Pastor Donald Gichane, who taught from (luke 18:1-8) , emphasizing the role of persistent prayer in Kingdom advancement. He explained that in the Kingdom, there are no exceptions, we are all in service under a divine code of conduct. Jesus used the parable of the unjust judge to show us the importance of spiritual stamina. Just like the persistent widow, we must not stop praying, even when we don’t see immediate results.
We live in a generation addicted to instant gratification, but the Kingdom thrives on process, not shortcuts. Process develops you. Delay is not denial. Elijah prayed and it stopped raining, not because he was special, but because he understood Kingdom authority (James 5:16–18). You have authority, what is it that you cannot speak to?
God is not like the unjust judge; He is attentive, loving, and faithful. Yet, many of us are more in tune with the latest trends than with the latest word from the Lord. We must press in. Isaiah 62:7 “And give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.”(NKJV) urges us not to give God rest until we see His promises come to pass. If we don’t understand what God wills for us, we must stay in His presence.
Persistent prayer, resilience, and unwavering pursuit are critical for advancing the Kingdom. Don’t move until God says so. Your relationship with God must not be transactional, based on blessings or breakthrough, but deeply personal. Like Job, who didn’t curse God when everything was taken away, we are called to trust and worship even when it hurts.
God is not operating on your timeline; He is faithful beyond the clock. If you feel lost, go back to the Father. He’s the ultimate GPS. Even if you’ve taken a wrong turn, He can redirect your path and redeem every misstep. He is not just the God of second chances, He is the God of restoration.
As we continue this journey, let us take our God-given seat with confidence. Let’s pray like the persistent widow, walk like Enoch, and trust like Job. Let us carry the glory and honor required for our assignments, knowing that the Kingdom advances not by spectators, but by saints fully seated, fully surrendered, and fully engaged
