Have you ever stopped to ponder the magnificence of believing in God who holds within His grasp every mystery and wonder imaginable? The past, present, and future all lie within His divine plan, and when we incline our ears to listen, we are filled with awe of His majesty. This is the essence of faith, an unwavering belief in a God who not only knows our path but also walks it with us.
As Christians, we find solace in the words of Luke 4:17, where Jesus unrolls the scroll of the prophet Isaiah and proclaims that the Spirit of the Lord has anointed him to proclaim good news to the poor, free the oppressed, give sight to the blind, proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour and freedom for prisoners.
This scripture speaks of His mission to restore and uplift those in need. But it’s not just a proclamation of good news; it’s also an affirmation that ‘This day, this scripture is fulfilled in your life.’
Acts 2:36-47 further solidifies the significance of the mission and states that on This Day, God has made Jesus, the crucified one, both Lord and Messiah. This signifies a turning point, a new beginning that disregards the past and embraces the dawn of a new era.
Jesus didn’t explicitly say he came to forgive sins. Why? Sin, in essence, is living below the standards set by God, and Jesus came to remind us of our true nature – as children of God, created for a purpose greater than sin. Just as Adam and Eve went astray in the Garden of Eden, compromising their purpose, we often find ourselves straying from God’s path. Yet, through Jesus, we’re given the opportunity to reclaim our purpose and walk hand in hand with the Creator.
“This day, this Jesus” isn’t just about forgiveness or salvation; it’s about restoration. It’s about receiving the good news that poverty is merely a mindset that limits us from reaching our full potential. We are meant to rise above our circumstances, knowing that God has equipped us with all we need for life and godliness. Like Eve, who allowed doubt to overshadow God’s provision, we sometimes forget that there’s more than enough in His hands.
Christians who are brokenhearted and disappointed find the strength to overcome despair and believe that God’s plans are greater than their own. As captives, we are confined by fear and uncertainty, but Jesus sets us free.
“This day! This Jesus!” sums up the timeless message of hope, redemption, and transformation. It captures the essence of the past, the present, and the future, reminding us of the unfailing love and purpose that Jesus brings into our lives.
As believers, we are called to embrace His teachings, His love, and His mission to uplift the brokenhearted, liberate captives, and establish justice for the oppressed. Let us not merely hold onto the belief in Jesus, but actively live out our faith in “this day” – a day of grace, love, and unwavering devotion to the Savior who walks beside us every step of the way.
