As believers, we often desire to live a fruitful and purposeful life. We wake up each day with anticipation, hoping for a better and more enjoyable life. However, it is essential to recognize that you are not a passive recipient of God’s blessings and provisions. You are His workmanship, and how you work and live your life reflects how God can work in and through you, bringing forth incredible results.
Many of us fail to allow God to work in our lives. We desire the outcomes and rewards but are unwilling to surrender to God’s transformative work within them. It is crucial to understand that while we entrust everything to God, there is also a personal responsibility we bear. God invites us to participate actively in His divine plans, just as He involved Adam in naming the animals.
In the Scriptures, we find a recurring theme that highlights the concept of believers being co-labourers with God. This divine partnership is not a mere coincidence; it is a message that God emphasizes throughout the Bible. Ephesians 2:10 states, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
We are also reminded that it is not our strength alone but God who effectively works in us. Sometimes, we mistakenly believe that God assigns us a purpose and expects us to fulfil it solely by our own efforts. However, God equips us with the necessary abilities, authority, and capacity to accomplish His will. He does not abandon us but continues to work alongside us. This is why Jesus says that He is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him.
Jesus promises us the power of the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses thus emphasizing our role as co-laborers with God. We see this partnership illustrated in II Samuel 8:9, where it is said that the Lord gave David victory wherever he went. David played his part by stepping out in faith and obedience, and God backed him up with His power and provision.
Job further reminds us that the power to bring about change lies within us because God endorses and supports our words. When we exercise our authority, it is God working together with us to bring about the desired results, rather than our mere human voice commanding and achieving them.
The scriptures also teach us to lay our hands on the sick and bring healing (Mark 16:18). In this act, our hands become the instrument through which God’s healing power flows. Jesus affirms the same by assuring you that whatever you ask in His name, He will do so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. It is, therefore, through our participation, prayer, and cooperation with God that His ability is manifested in our lives and circumstances.
We must understand that God’s ability to work is not limited by His self, but rather by our willingness to ask and participate with Him. As believers, we should strive to align ourselves with His purposes and actively engage in the work He has called us to do. Even in challenging times or when facing opposition, we should trust in God and participate in His plans, for He is always faithful to see us through. Paul pleads with us not to receive the grace of God in vain.
Grace is not merely an unmerited favour; it is divine empowerment. Unless you are walking in apparent disobedience, you are assured to overcome any trial or challenge is part of your journey. Sometimes, pain becomes the very agent God uses to produce transformative results in your life.
