As a father, God’s love for us is eternal and unwavering. It surpasses all boundaries of time and space. The prophet Habakkuk, in Habakkuk 1:12, describes God as the everlasting one, a divine being who is immune to death and destruction.
The scriptures remind us that everything in this world is transient and fleeting. Nations will rise and fall, mountains will crumble, and hills will collapse, but amidst it all, God remains steadfast and unchanging. His eternal existence is a source of comfort and assurance.
In our human frailty, we often fall short and struggle to comprehend the vastness of God’s understanding. However, there is nothing we can present to God that He doesn’t already know or understand. He intimately knows our composition and our essence, as He is our Creator. God recognizes our mortal nature and remembers that we are formed from dust. As King David states in Psalms 78:39, God acknowledges that we are merely flesh, like a passing wind that cannot return.
Even though we are like grass, withering away and fleeting in our existence, God’s love for us remains constant. He extends compassion and mercy to His children, regardless of your flaws and shortcomings. Whether you choose to turn away from Him or disobey His commandments, God’s empathy allows Him to comprehend your emotions. However, He reserves His favour for those who fear Him and hold Him in reverence.
Therefore, as followers of Christ, it is crucial for us to continually strive to please God if we truly fear Him. We are called to cultivate a deep and intimate relationship with Him, aligning our thoughts, attitudes, and actions with His divine Word.
Your genuine fear of God is evident when you have nothing to hide from Him. It requires fixing your gaze solely on Him and pursuing Him wholeheartedly, dedicating your strength and might to His service. It is through this unwavering devotion that you find true fulfilment and experience the depths of His love and grace.
