Prayer – You Are God Alone

Do you have an expectation as a Christian? Have you prayed and fasted over it or are you a comfortable Christian who only believes that God has already done it?

Jesus encourages you to ask anything from God in His Name that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Despite the promise, the Bible provides us with instances where we have to persist in prayer and fasting.

Daniel, as described in the Bible, was a faithful and devout man known for his strong prayer life. His life serves as an example of unwavering commitment to God and consistent communication through prayer.

Simeon the Old Man and Anna the Prophetess also highlight the importance of prayer and fasting while waiting on God’s prophecy. Their interaction with Jesus indicates that they were firmly following God’s order. Simeon was a devout and righteous man who was eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Messiah. His anticipation was fueled by his deep connection with God through prayer and being filled with the Holy Spirit.

Together with Anna the Prophetess, they were waiting for God’s consolation of Israel. Anna, a widow and a prophetess, spent much of her time in the temple, worshipping God with fasting and prayer. Her commitment to prayer and fasting was a testament to her devotion to God and her desire to seek His presence. Anna’s fasting was an expression of her deep longing for the redemption of Jerusalem and her dedication to seeking God’s will.’

Jesus himself is an example you ought to follow. He lived a prayerful life. In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to God who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. Despite facing the prospect of death, Jesus trusted in the Father’s ability to save Him. Through His reverent and sincere prayers, Jesus demonstrated His dependence on God and His unwavering commitment to fulfilling God’s plan.

That was why he was angered by the traders who were transacting in the House of God. He chased them away while quoting Isaiah 56:7 which says that God’s House will be called a house of prayer for all nations.

Immediately, thereafter, Jesus healed the sick, demonstrating that there is power in trusting in God and defending His House. Disciples even at one point wondered how he cast out demons, yet they couldn’t despite being empowered.

Jesus explained to them that with prayer and faith, you can even move a mountain. Could it be that the problem you are praying for is not solved because you have lost the order of God? When was your last prayer?  When was the last time you fasted to strengthen your spirit?

Prayer serves as a means of communication with God. It allows you to express your thoughts, concerns, gratitude, and desires to God. Through prayer, you can seek guidance, find comfort, and experience a deeper connection with God.

You are a child of God. Live according to God’s patterns and order, believe in Him, fast and be persistent in your prayers.
