Have you ever wondered why God loves you even when you fall or why he loves all of us equally? God is indiscriminate. His love encompasses all of us. To demonstrate his love towards us and that his Kingdom belongs to everyone, God sent his son, Jesus, to die for our sins.
In Romans 5:8, Paul tells you that God demonstrates his love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. John 3:16 adds that God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
However, sometimes you may judge others, perceiving them as lost. You forget that the son of man came to save the lost. God will always prove that he does not discriminate, and you as a Christian, should follow his example. Jesus, by visiting the house of Simon the Leper, shows us how it is easy to look at the flaws of others and forget our shortcomings.
In Matthew 26:6 and Luke 19, Jesus visited Simon, a Pharisee, to dine and merry. A sinful woman, who had saved her best perfume, humbled herself and cleaned the feet of Jesus. Simon the Leper saw the fault in the sinful woman and condemned her action. He had received Grace and thought Jesus only loved the ones favoured rather than the sinners, forgetting that God is indiscriminate.
To prove that God loves us all, Jesus forgave the sinful woman’s sin and also condemned Simon for judging her. Jesus indicated that one who is forgiven the most should be most grateful. To whom much is given, much is expected.
Like Simon, the leper, sometimes you walk and act as opposed to your faith, failing to understand that you are a carrier of life. Your words speak destiny into the life of others. James 3:5 says the tongue is a small part of the body, yet it boasts great things. See how great a forest is set on fire by a small spark! Profess Jesus, like Zacchaeus, the tax collector.
Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector who often exploited his position for personal gain. Jesus, however, still loved him and surprised the crowd by choosing to associate with a tax collector, someone considered a sinner and an outcast.At his house, while dining with Jesus, Zacchaeus pledged to give half of his possessions to the poor, and if he had cheated anyone, he would repay them four times the amount. Upon hearing this, Jesus declared that salvation had come to Zacchaeus’ house, emphasising that he was also a son of Abraham.
Like the tax collector, everything changes when Jesus comes into your life. He changes your situation. Trust God even when there are no signs, even when you think it’s impossible. He answers the simplest prayers made with humility, like the sinful woman at Simon the leper’s house. God unlocks a special part of you. The Lord asks you to go to him as weak and heavily burdened as you are. Even when the world has written you off, it is his will that you all come to his saving grace. Let Jesus be the centre of it all.
