Jehovah Tsidkenu – The Lord Our Righteousness

This name is mentioned when the people of the tribe of Judah were sinning against the Lord perhaps more than its sister kingdom of Israel. This was after the good king Josiah who tried to change the systemic evil by the only formula that works, which is a spiritual awakening. After his unfortunate and untimely death things grew much worse. Even the priest as well as the princes and the people polluted the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, practising every abomination of the heathen round about. The land was full of oppression and violence, political intrigue and unrest.

This sounds familiar right? We as a nation are going through the same thing. Like the last post we spoke about the decay of mankind. Where organizations are more profit driven than they are impact driven. Pharmaceutical companies would rather sell more drugs to manage a disease than cure it. Where the lives of men have been made cheap and greed is the order of the day. Even our priests desiccate the place of worship for greed and lust. The place where the people of God should find refuge, they find wolves waiting to take advantage of them. Jehovah’s warnings went unheeded in the time of Jeremiah just as is the case now. When the tax of a product is higher than the import cost. When the priests alter their messages to manipulate their congregations for monetary gains or for fleshly pleasures. There is nothing new under the sun, what is happening now happened before and the wrath of God was aroused and there was no remedy.  And the Lord said,” I will remove Judah also from my presence as I have removed Israel and I will reject Jerusalem, the city I chose, and this temple about which I said. ‘There shall my Name be’” (2 Kings 23:26-27).

Here’s a quote from Nathan Stone. For Israel/Kenya has steadily and determinedly trod the downward path of retrogression from its God. They despised His provision of redemption as Jehovah Jireh. Consequently, He could not be to them Jehovah Rapha, who heals. they were a people, as Isaiah says, without soundness from the sole of the foot to the crown of their head, full of open wounds, bruises and putrefying sores (Isaiah 1:6). Without Jehovah Nissi their banner, they were defeated at every turn. Refusing to sanctify themselves to Jehovah M’Kaddesh, their sanctifier, they became corrupt and degenerate.

Is there no redemption? Like I mentioned in the post before, our God rules over the kingdom of men and will give it to whomever He feels. Jeremiah predicted not only that Israel would return from captivity and be restored to its land, but God would raise up a king who would bring peace and security to His people and He will be called Jehovah our righteousness. God gave the kingdom to a man called “Zedekiah,” which means the righteousness of Jehovah. It must have been in the reign of Zedekiah that the great prophesy of Jehovah Tsidkenu was given. And in Him, as Jeremiah declares in 33:6-26, Judah would once more be redeemed, healed, cleansed, victorious, at peace and made righteous. For the nature of His Kingdom was to be spiritual, rather than political, and its chief characteristic; righteousness, which was not of themselves but of that King who is Jehovah.

May God’s will be done on our Nation and the world on earth as it is in heaven.

God bless you
