The Bible says and MY God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. This name to me is very personal for I have experienced a time and still do, where this name became very real to me. But let’s see how this name came into being.
Abraham was promised a son and he waited for 25 years before he got his son Isaac. The bible says that God’s word will not return to Him void, but it will accomplish that which it was sent to do. When God gives you a promise, it does not matter how long it takes, it shall surely come to pass.
Abraham after getting his son Isaac was asked by God to go and sacrifice him at a place where He would show him. Abraham obeyed and the next morning took his son with him and a few servants. He leaves the servants on the way and goes further up the mountain with Isaac who then noticing there is no sacrifice asked, “I see the firewood and the knife, but where is the sacrifice?” Abraham replies, God Himself will provide The Lamb for the burnt offering.
You need to understand that theologians record the age of Isaac at that time to be 37 years. He, Isaac, for the love he had for his father agreed to be tied down and be killed for his father’s God. Just to bring a bit of drama to this story, according to an Ethiopian friend of mine, their bible says that Isaac opted to turn and face downwards for he knew his father would not be able to look him in the face while sacrificing him.
Abraham raised his hand to slay his son but God called out to him and told him not to kill him and that He had provided a lamb. God said to Abraham, because you were willing to give your son to me, I will give my Son for you and your family. Abraham then named that place after sacrificing the lamb, the Lord will provide (Jehovah Jireh).
There is a Sunday school song called father Abraham because it is believed that most races of the world came from Abraham. Many years later, God sent His only begotten Son to the world that He may be the sacrificial Lamb for the sons of Abraham. I am one of them and so are you, so let us praise the Lord for the great provision at the mountain called Golgotha which should be called Jehovah Jireh.
Jesus like Isaac, loved His father so much that He was willing to come to earth and die for the will of His father. We all have needs that we ask God to provide for. This God, that did not withhold His only Son so that He can restore a relationship between us and Him. That we may be able to call him Abba Father and have the privilege to be called sons of God. Is he not able to supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus?
I started by saying this name is personal to me for I too had to leave a job where I had guaranteed provision and learn how to live each day depending on the divine provision of God. There was a period where we had no electricity and water because it was an effort by the landlord to make me pay the bills. I had to get water from the tanks that were used to collect rain water and have candle-lit dinners with my family. I was later chased out of that house and had to go back to live with my parents with my family. After a few months, God started opening up doors for us and we moved to a house better than any house we had ever lived in. We later moved to an even bigger and better house. Praise the Name of The Living God. God has and continues to be my provider. If He did it and still is doing it in my life, He can and will do it for you. Trust in the Lord always.
God bless you.
