All of us face struggles. All of us have strongholds. I have faced many struggles. Some were self-made others were generational. This thing called the fight of Faith is not easy. To believe even when every fact is against your belief. Some other struggles could be just natural like corona virus or a storm. God says, “for every animal in the forest is mine, even the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird in the mountains and creatures of the fields are mine”. So, where does my provision come from? You see this scripture yet your Landlord is knocking on your door. Or you are sleeping hungry. How hard it is not to look at the winds and storms of life and focus on the one who can calms the storm. Pitson says in a Swahili song, “rudia”. Which means repeat. He says in that song, that I hear you are God who delivered the Israelites from the Angel of death could you do it again for me.
El-Shaddai. EL means God. SHAD means breasts and Dai means sufficient, large quantity, abundance or plenty. This comes from the analogy that whenever a baby is hungry and is crying the breasts of the mother produce enough and abundant milk to feed the baby or babies. God has wired the female body to produce as much as the baby keeps on asking. This means that God is able to meet all your needs according to His riches and glory.
Recently I saw a video of a mother hen protecting its chicks from a king cobra. The fierce mother managed to face off with this great giant armed with lightening speed and poisonous fangs. A hen armed with a beak and wings to make it look fierce. I wonder what drove this hen to face this giant. I mean a king cobra has been well created for hunting and killing. What does a hen have apart from love in its heart? Perfect love casts out all fear. We know our mothers when it comes to protecting their young and also as they provide. The name El – Shaddai uses the analogy of God being a mother and we being the children. A mother who is all sufficient. A mother who can provide abundantly and protect as fiercely.
Casting crowns says there is a time when your fear has to meet the God you serve. I used to like watching horror movies and a friend of mine asked why do you watch these things that exalt the power of the devil. This was an epiphany for me. I realised we need to focus on the God in you to show you His power. Start reading the bible, listening to sermons and testimonies. The bible says whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Think of a God who is able to deliver you from the angel of death and rescue your household. A God who will speak to your lack and say tomorrow at such a time as this, there will be an abundance. A God who will lead you during the day with a cloud and during the night with fire. A God who will go before you and win the battle for you. A God who will feed you manna and multiply fish and bread. A God who will heal you. A God who will forgive all your sins and rescue you from the clutches of hell. Deliver you from addictions and give your heart a purpose. An all sufficient God.
Praise the Name of the Living God!!!!! For nothing is impossible with God.
